Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Patter app collects, how it is used and shared, how long it is kept, and the rights you have over it.
1. Who we are
Patter (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a mobile application that helps cat and dog owners manage their pets’ health, nutrition, mood and training. The data controller is Barış Aslankan, an independent developer based in Türkiye.

2. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains (a) which information Patter collects, (b) how and why we use it, (c) with whom we share it, (d) how long it is kept and how to delete it, and (e) how to make a request about your data. It applies to the Patter mobile app. Section 14 covers this website.
3. Information we collect
Account information
- You sign in with Google or with Apple, through Firebase Authentication. We receive and store the e-mail address associated with that account, together with the user identifier Firebase Authentication creates for you.
- If your sign-in provider shares your name, it may be kept in your Firebase Authentication sign-in record. Patter does not store your name with your account or pet data.
Pet information you provide
- Profile details such as species, breed, age, weight, gender, food, known conditions and allergies.
- Care records you enter, such as feeding and nutrition entries, water intake, weight history, vaccination and veterinary visit information, daily check results, mood answers, training goals and plans, and reminders.
- Messages you exchange with Patter’s chat assistant.
Photos
- Photos you choose to add, for example a photo of your pet when creating its profile, a photo from a veterinary visit, or a photo taken for a daily check. These are stored with your account and may be analysed as described in section 5.
App preferences
- Language choice, measurement units, notification settings and similar configuration data.
Subscription information
- Whether your account has PatterPro, and the purchase information the app store provides so we can confirm a subscription (such as a purchase token or a signed transaction record). Payments are processed by the app store; we do not receive your payment-card details.
Usage and diagnostic information
- App-interaction events, feature usage and session information collected by Google Analytics for Firebase.
- Crash logs and device state at the moment of a crash collected by Firebase Crashlytics.
- Generic device information (such as model, operating-system version and app-installation identifiers) needed for the above services, and for Firebase App Check, which confirms that requests come from a genuine copy of the app.
Advertising and attribution data (Android app)
- In the Android app, the Facebook SDK collects device identifiers (including the device advertising ID where your device settings allow it), app events such as app launches and subscription purchases, and usage metrics that allow Meta Platforms (Facebook) to attribute installs and measure ad performance.
Pet food searches
- When you search for a pet food, the search text you enter is sent to Open Pet Food Facts to find matching products. Your account details are not included in that request.
We do not request or store payment-card numbers, government identifiers, precise GPS location, biometric data or similar sensitive categories.
4. How we use your information
- Provide core functionality: create pet profiles, store data, sync across devices and show reminders.
- Authenticate your account through Google or Apple sign-in.
- Generate AI analyses, plans and chat replies using your pet’s information (section 5).
- Confirm subscription purchases with the app store and provide PatterPro features.
- Monitor crashes and fix bugs with Firebase Crashlytics.
- Understand aggregated usage and improve features with Google Analytics for Firebase.
- Protect the service against abuse, including with Firebase App Check.
- Promote Patter externally and attribute installs using the Facebook SDK in the Android app.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.
5. AI processing
Patter uses AI to analyse your pet’s information and generate responses, including photo analysis during profile setup, nutrition and health analyses, training plans and chat replies.
When you use these features, the information relevant to the request — such as details from your pet’s profile and records, your message, and a photo where the feature uses one — is sent through our Firebase Cloud Functions to Google’s Gemini API, which generates the result. Results are returned to the app and may be saved with your pet’s records. You need to be signed in to use these features.
6. Data sharing
We share information only with the service providers below, for the purposes described in this policy:
- Google. Firebase (Google LLC) processes data for Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Crashlytics, Google Analytics for Firebase and App Check, and, in the Android app, Remote Config. Google’s Gemini API processes AI requests (section 5). Google Sign-In handles Google sign-in, and in the Android app Google Play processes purchases and Google Play Integrity supports App Check.
- Apple. If you sign in with Apple or purchase through Apple, Apple processes that sign-in or purchase, and Apple App Attest supports App Check.
- Meta Platforms Inc. In the Android app, the Facebook SDK sends app-event data and device identifiers to Meta to deliver and measure targeted ads on Facebook properties.
- Open Pet Food Facts. Receives the pet food search text you enter.
We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect our rights.
7. Data retention
- Account and pet data are kept until you delete them in the app or delete your account.
- Crash and analytics data collected by Firebase are kept according to the retention settings of those Google services.
- Advertising data collected by the Facebook SDK in the Android app are kept as described in Meta’s privacy policy.
- After an account deletion is completed, we keep only limited records that our deletion and billing systems need to work correctly: the record of the deletion itself, for up to 30 days; for a store purchase, a coded (hashed) reference to the deleted account for up to 30 days, followed by a minimal record that the purchase has already been claimed, which is kept so that the same purchase cannot be claimed by another account; and technical records of store billing notifications, whose operational details are removed after up to 90 days. These records do not contain your e-mail address, your name, your pet information or your photos.
8. Data deletion and portability
You have two options:
- Inside the app, open Settings › Delete Account. Our servers then delete your account, pet and preference data, and your stored photos, from our Firebase databases and storage, and remove your Firebase Authentication account. If you signed in with Apple, Patter’s access to your Apple sign-in is also revoked. You may be asked to sign in again to confirm, and deletion can take a short time to complete.
- Send an e-mail to barisaslankan@gmail.com requesting deletion or a copy of your data.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription purchased through an app store. Manage or cancel it in your store account; see our Subscription Terms.
Deleting Patter data does not automatically remove data already processed by Facebook; you can control that through your Facebook account or OS ad-preferences.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, applicable privacy law may give you rights regarding your personal data, such as access, correction or deletion. You can contact us at barisaslankan@gmail.com to make a request. We will verify your identity before acting.
10. Device permissions
- Camera: used only when you choose to take a photo in the app.
- Notifications: used to show reminders, which are scheduled on your device.
You can withdraw either permission at any time in your device settings. On Android, you can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.
11. International transfers
Data are stored on Google Cloud servers, and processed by the other providers in section 6, which may be located outside your country.
12. Security measures
- TLS encryption for network traffic between the app and our services.
- Our server functions require you to be signed in, and account deletion is carried out only by our servers.
- No method of electronic storage is completely secure; therefore, absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
13. Children’s privacy
Patter is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect children’s personal data. If you believe that a child has provided data, please contact us so we can delete it.
14. This website
This website, patterpetcare.com, has no accounts or forms, sets no cookies of its own and runs no scripts in your browser. It is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes standard request information, such as IP address, to serve and protect the site. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see aggregate information such as page views, referring sites, and country, browser and device type.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in legal requirements or our practices. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
