Patter for cats
Cats are one of the two species Patter supports. Everything in the app works from your individual cat’s profile rather than from generic pet advice.
Does Patter work for cats?
Yes. Patter supports cats and dogs, and cat care in Patter reflects your actual cat — their age, weight, food, conditions, allergies, vaccinations and daily patterns — rather than advice written for pets in general. There is no separate cut-down version for cats: the full context model applies.
How does Patter learn about my cat?
Setup starts from a photo. Patter uses photo analysis to determine your cat’s species and breed, and — when you do not know them — to estimate age, weight and gender. You then add the context that shapes everything afterwards: what your cat eats, any known conditions or diseases, and any allergies.

What does Patter cover for a cat?
The same six areas as for any pet in Patter, all reading from your cat’s own profile.
- Nutrition. Calories, macronutrients and micronutrients, and food-safety assessment against your cat’s own allergies and conditions. See nutrition in Patter.

Can Patter help with cat training?
Yes. Training in Patter is supported for cats as well as dogs. You tell Patter what you want to work on and it generates a plan built from your cat’s own information and context, rather than a generic programme.
Cats are often left out of training features entirely, which is why it is worth saying plainly: a cat profile in Patter gets the same plan generation a dog profile does, built from that individual animal’s age, breed and history.
Why does everyday context matter for a cat?
Because the useful signal is usually a change over time, not a single reading. How much your cat eats and drinks, what their weight is doing, how their mood scores have looked over recent weeks — those are small numbers individually, and a pattern collectively.
Patter keeps them in one record and reads them together, which is what makes a gradual change visible. It cannot tell you what a change means; that is a conversation to have with your veterinarian.

Can I keep more than one cat in Patter?
Yes. Each pet has their own profile and history, and the AI assistant can understand relevant context about your other animals rather than only the one you are viewing. Adding more than one pet requires PatterPro, Patter’s paid tier.
Patter and your cat’s veterinarian
Patter is built to support veterinary care, not to stand in for it. It keeps your cat’s history organised, surfaces what deserves attention, can suggest what a change might be related to, and recommends veterinary follow-up when that is warranted.
